What I Read in 2016

As a lover of lists and books I could not pass up the opportunity to share with you a list of all the books I read in 2016! It's just that time of year, it needs to be shared. I've done this for the past couple of years now (here's the links for 2014 & 2015) and obviously, 2016 will be no different.

I started the year by making myself the goal of reading 52 books. Having read 71 books the year before I thought this would be an easy goal. However, I actually only just reached the goal of 52 in the last couple of weeks in the year after having a really weird 2016. Below it says 55, I actually added a lot of books to my DNF pile and was so adament that I would never pick them up again that I filed them as Read on Goodreads

As much as I love Goodreads as a way to connect with people over books, set challenges and even finding new books the organisatiion of it really makes me want to cry (melodramatic, soz). Just some of the things I don't like is how when I reread a book in a different year it just suddenly doesn't count for the first year I read it, and the star ratiing system feels so restrictive. But I digress, here's the wonderful list of books I read in 2016:

If it hadn't been for the various readathons I'd taken part in over the year, my serious commitment to Booktube at the beginning of 2016 and my determination to finish certain series (looking at you Raven Cycle) then I wouldn't have even came close to my goal. I'm disappointed in 52 purely because I specifically set it as an easy target in comparison to last year but life got in the way. In 2017, I've made an even smaller goal to read 25 books through the year.

Have you set yourself any reading challenges this year?

  1. That looks like a good collection of books. Which one of these was your favorite? I used to be an avid reader but am going through a reader's block. :(
