Ambers Arrow from Bloody Mary Metal

I finally did it! I finally got myself a little treat from Bloody Mary Metal, justifying the purchase with  the excuse "a little something nice as a present to myself from my Christmas money" - so I got the Ambers Arrow ring (£30) and damn, isn't it gorgeous?

Favourite Things About Winter #Fandom5

Last Friday I wanted to post my Ruby Redfort review so missed out on #Fandom5. I wrote this for that Friday and I want to share it now even though it's a week late. I'm a Winter girl. I don't mind Summer, Spring and Autumn, they're nice enough, but when it comes to Winter I become a truly happy person and here is why:

What Not to Do as an Evil Villain

Ah Disney, if it has taught me anything through my life it has shown me the downfalls of great villains who did really dumb things and became their own worst enemy. We can learn from their mistakes and become the greatest villains of all time. If we wanted to.

Feel the Fear (Ruby Redfort, #4) by Lauren Child*

First, I must confess, I have not read any of the other Ruby Redfort books. Originally I thought I'd build up to Feel the Fear* - the latest in the Ruby Redfort series, only just published in November 2014 - by getting to really know Ruby through reading the three books before this. Then a better idea struck - what if I saw this book in a store and couldn't get my hands on the others (not uncommon just before Christmas especially) and just went ahead and see how it goes? It is going fantastically, thanks for asking.

Quick Look: Code-cracker, Secret Agents, Mystery, Humorous.

Longhorns Barbecue Smokehouse, Newcastle

The boyfriend and I visited Longhorns Barbecue Smokehouse before Christmas after trying to go to The Fat Hippo Underground (on a Monday) but it was closed. Longhorns was only a short walk away - you can find it at 10 Mosley Street, NE1 1DE - and I'm so glad we visited.

Films I Watched in 2014

Over the past year I have been religiously recording every film I've watched for no real purpose other than to have one enormous list to share on the blog. This started as a fun challenge last year to see how long it would take to watch 100 films, but that went out the window when I realised - I watch a lot of films. If you felt inclined you can compare the below list to my 2013 films.

What I Read in 2014

Back in Summer I made myself a little Reading List and set myself the aim to read 20 books by the end of 2014. Sometimes I'm a bit hit and miss with reading. Some books I'll read quickly over a couple of days whereas others I will read slowly and before I know it months have passed. 20 books was a lot of books for me as I was just getting back in to reading so had no idea how I would fair with this challenge but how did I do with the challenge that I set myself in July?
