Desserts Delivered, Newcastle

After our little pizza at Cal's Own last week we went home, did some chores and ordered a Desserts Delivered - it literally does as it says on the tin, delivers desserts to your door!

When this delivery company opened I was convinced I'd be an addict and getting a delivery every week but my will power has kicked in and this is only my second ever order (my first order was in December 2013). Will power and also being extremely skint and forever trying to make my diet healthier. If only chocolate cake was one of my five a day.

So what did we get?
I had the delectable Chocolate Orange Tower Cake which was much better than I had expected and my boyfriend got the Reese's Chocolate Cake (actually £3.20) as well as Salted Caramel Gelato ice cream (£1.50) which we shared. The ice cream was mainly to bump the price over £8 as that was the minimum spend to place an order. They also charge £2 for delivery which makes sense business-wise (they'll make a minimum of £10 per order) but when you're skint like me and just want cake it means digging a little deeper into your pockets.

Both times I've ordered I've had to get more than I planned because of minimum spending. In total, I think this cost £10.20. I am so satisfied with what we paid for and how much we got, sure on the surface we're talking two cakes and a little tub of ice cream. The cakes are ginormous, made up of four levels and the ice cream is probably designed for a single person serving.

So my cake. It was amazing. On my first ever order I got an Oreo themed cake and I was disappointed by that and my Kinder Bueno ice cream and didn't understand the hype. This time I finally began to understand, how brilliant this company is. I think they've improved so much since my last order. The cake tasted chocolatey with the orange undertones which makes it a successful Chocolate Orange Tower cake. It was moist and I loved every element. If I had to complain I'd say the sprinkles on the side are a bit overkill and they don't necessarily add anything but I can't physically complain about having too much chocolate now can I? The real problem was that I only had one slice. Hopefully I won't have to wait six months for my next delivery.

  1. I've never heard of anything like this---but any entity that can bring me orange chocolate desserts is alright in my book.

    1. It's such a good business idea, they started in the North East (UK) but I think they now deliver everywhere? Maybe, I think I read something like that on their Facebook / twitter recently. But yeah, probably the best thing to happen in my lifetime :)

    1. There is nothing wrong with it at all! They have such a selection, beyond just cakes too! I recommend it (the chocolate orange tower I had was the cake form of a Terry's chocolate orange chocolate bar - and I'm mad about them!)

  4. Oh my, why why why does this not exist in London? Surely there must be somewhere that will bring cake to my door. It's the perfect idea... especially if I can get salted caramel gelato too!
