I will be posting a separate Bucket List soon that I want to aim to get through during 2015, and some of those on the list are blog focused. Today is Fandom Friday and we're looking at Blogging Resolutions! So here are a five of mine, kind of inspired by some of the things I realised I'm bad at when I posted my Blogger Confessions

I'm a bit of a collector when it comes to Christmas decorations. For the past 5 years I've purchased one a year with the plan that when I eventually get my own place I'll have loads of cool little ornaments. Obviously, my favourites have a bit of a geeky flare to them and today I thought I'd share some of my favourite finds.
17 December 2014
I know it isn't Friday but I'm posting this early because I'm so excited for Christmas! It is definitely okay to be watching Christmas films now! Here are my Top 5 for this time of year that instantly make Christmas feel Christmassy.
16 December 2014
You know what I love? Kids books. No matter what my age I will always go straight for the Young Adult section in book shops, but recently I've been going even younger than that. I heard some awesome things about Skulduggery Pleasant by Derek Landy (a book that belongs in your 9-13 age groups alongside your Harry Potter and Percy Jackson) and I thought I'd share because this is a really awesome series to get in to - no matter what your age.

I have an Amazon Wishlist* the size of my arm. It is ridiculously long because I've been adding to it since December 2012 and use it to buy myself goodies when the money rolls in. It seems to me that I end up taking something off but adding three more on. Since it's Christmas and it's okay to share a "Things I really really really want" list (and it's Fandom Friday) these are the top 5 items I want, so listen up Santa Claus.
9 December 2014
I've mentioned before, I'm sure, but I work in a bookshop. Thanks to this I get to see exciting new books as soon as we get them in and one caught my eye that I simply had to buy.
5 December 2014
Buying Christmas gifts is one of the hardest task I face this time of year. I struggle with the non-geeky gifts but when it comes to buying beautiful presents for my nearest and nerdiest I have next to no trouble at all. What I'm about to list is generally what I've got people for Christmas or had in mind to.
I feel like there aren't enough board games in the world sometimes, but these make brilliant Christmas gifts because I don't know about you guys but I'm always playing them on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and even up to New Year because there isn't a lot else to do. The best thing about giving a board game is you essentially pick the game to play. I would pick Sherlock Cluedo because then at least I'll get to see Benedict's face for an extended period of time.
4 December 2014
Yesterday I pulled the early shift at work (which required me getting up at 6:30am, I don't know how people do that on a regular basis) and afterwards I went for a little treat at Olive & Bean to get over a full on day of being a retail assistant in the busy festive period.

THIS GIVEAWAY HAS ENDED
I know what I like to read, Dystopian Novels. No doubt you'll have seen them about as they are currently making their way to film: The Hunger Games, Divergent and the like. "A dystopia is a community or society that is in some important way undesirable or frightening. It is literally translated as "not-good place", an antonym of utopia." (Wiki)
I've compiled a selection (in no particular order) of books you might like if you've read a Dystopian novel and enjoyed it. Chances are if you've enjoyed something on the list you can find something else for that book hangover. All images and quotes are from Goodreads and that is where all the links go too. The idea behind this post is: if you like the tiny sentence or cover and are intrigued, click the title and you can find out more about it. Pretty much all of these are on my to read list if I haven't read them already.

Something exciting happened this weekend just gone. My lovely boyfriend had his birthday and as a special treat to himself he got some Pet Lamb Patisserie cupcakes to celebrate. I was thrilled with his decision, I've only heard great things about Pet Lamb Patisserie and now I know why.
25 November 2014
I've spent the last couple of months reading The Maze Runner trilogy by James Dashner. I got in to this because I wanted to read the book before I saw the film and it was also Book of the Month at work so reading it helped me actually talk about it. Before I go into spoilers, so you know where I stand: it was good and I enjoyed it - the first alone is amazing however my enthusiasm lessened over the series.
18 November 2014
Last night I was invited along to my first ever blogger event at Cal's Own to celebrate their second birthday! I spent the evening with the wonderful Sam (North East Family Fun), Chloe (New Girl in Toon), Shivani (Cloud in a Teacup) and Shivani's friend who were all welcoming and friendly to a little newbie like me.

This post was originally going to be a guest post for another blog and so I was a little sad when it didn't go live when discussed with the other blogger, but I know they had a lot of stuff going on so instead I'm posting it now as part of Fandom Friday!
13 November 2014
One evening (a few weeks back now) the boyfriend and I had a spontaneous date night! The plans were simple: food, drink and a film at the cinema. I had no idea where I wanted to eat so turned to Twitter for help where Chloe (New Girl in Toon) suggested Coop Chicken House and that, dear readers, is where we went.

Recently, I was browsing on the old Etsy machine looking for birthday cards when I bought a brilliant Game of Thrones themed card from SuperCoolCards:

How brilliant is The Simpsons, though? It's been a part of my life for longer than I can remember - and that is no surprise considering that it was first aired in 1989 (25 years this December?! Is that right?) I wanted to share some of my favourite Halloween themed Treehouse of Horror episodes that have stuck with me.
Episode I, Season 2: "The Raven" (1990) - I never got this one as a kid and it actually annoyed me when it was on the TV since I'd seen it a million times. Now though, as an adult with more appreciation and knowledge, I actually really enjoy this (especially the line that begins on 4:01)

I do love Halloween, but I hate being scared - something that does not go hand in hand on paper. What a predicament, I hear you say, whatever do you watch? Why, animated and children's movies my dear! I've picked a selection of films that even I can sit through so they can't be that scary.
21 October 2014
Halloween is fast approaching so it's time to share some books that are brilliant for this time of year; zombies, witches, and vampires from kid's books to classics. I have a bunch if these on my To-Read list and hopefully I will get round to reading them this Halloween.
20 October 2014
Due to the success of my April Ludgate's Tabby Cat Jumper post I thought I would go ahead and give it another go. Recently I watched all 3 seasons of Fresh Meat and Vod is by far my favourite character in every sense. One thing I love about her is her wardrobe and one jumper in particular caught my eye (too bad I couldn't get an ace photograph of it though).

If I had enough friends or was cool enough to attend a Halloween party or event that required dressing up I would love nothing more than to let my inner cosplay nerd take the reins and go full on with a costume. Alas, I'm attending a wedding this year and if I turned up to the reception in any of these outfits I'd get more than one strange look.

As my last post about cat names from the 1940's-60's went down well I thought I'd continue with a few more cat names but this time we're looking at the 1970's and this was a big time for cats (with a few foxes thrown in too) in Disney.

Not too long ago I went on a mate date with one of my closest friends to Geek Retreat where we had a lovely catch up. Geek Retreat opened early in September at 38 Grainger Street (just opposite Travelling Man, it's bright purple and yellow logo is hard to miss!) and I was so excited about it I knew I would be visiting sooner rather than later.

This year I finished my three year university journey and it is bizarre to think how much I've grown over that time but I also can't believe I was left to decide what degree I wanted to do at such a young age. What I plan to write today is advice I would give to someone about to go in or is halfway through that journey having come out on the other side completely lost. Obviously, we could be completely different people and you might not take much from this but hopefully this can help someone with their university journey.

It is well established that I love cats and I have a few cat names up my sleeve for the day I get to name my own kitty (I do own a cat but he kept the name he was given when he was rescued). I've wanted to do a fun post on Disney cat names for a while so here it is. Even though Walt Disney wasn't a fan of cats, which really shows through the names and personality of some of these felines, I can't get enough of them.
Figaro (Pinnocchio, 1940): "In modern French the word figaro has acquired the meaning "barber", reflecting the character's profession." (Behind the Name)

I've already weighed in my 2 cents about The Sims 4* in Part 1 of my First Impressions, but that was only after 3 hours of play and I want to show a little more about what I've discovered over a few more game sessions. Be warned, I bring some upsetting news.
Life, Death & Woohoo
6 September 2014
I've been complaining for a while now that I wouldn't be able to afford The Sims 4* when it was released and wasn't expecting to play it until Christmas. Lo and behold how a few hints and tweets persuaded my boyfriend and my dad to pre-order a surprise copy for me.
24 August 2014
I was watching Parks & Recreation* when I noticed April Ludgate wearing the best outfit ever and for the first time in my life I wanted to recreate it in a fashion post. I'm not that talented however, but I couldn't pass up the chance to write a post about two of my favourite things: cats and jumpers.

One of my favourite elements to the Final Fantasy game series are what I most commonly refer to as summons (although they have went by other names too, e.g. aeons, esper.) Since I've played a few Final Fantasy games and a few of these summons appear in more than once but sometimes alter in form. It got me wondering, how do they look in games I haven't played? How have they developed with technology?

As part of Restaurant Week (4th - 10th August) in Newcastle the boyfriend and I visited The Fat Hippo Underground last night with the amazing offer of 2 courses for £10! As the name suggests, this restaurant is underground so the photographs are affected by the artificial lighting and instead of heavily editing them so they don't look real I've just tried to make them a little brighter so you can see what is happening.

Food cravings? Sure, I get those all of the time. But does anyone else ever get those weird urges to just replay a certain game for a particular detail?
I'm not going to lie, this might not be the most exciting post ever because all I'm going to do is list all of the games I have a real hankering to play but I surprisingly don't have the time too! I know, little unemployed me is just too busy with other things and my "To-Play" list is full of new games.

My dad recently graduated (oh it must have been the summer of 2012) and he went to the university that I did. When I found out the colours were red and gold I immediately thought about Gryffindor and spent the whole day cracking Harry Potter jokes - the best was just chanting "Go, go, Gryffindor!"
Fast forward two years and it is now my turn to graduate. It's a really nervous time because it's like, the future now, and I'm supposed to be able to give an answer to that classic question "so what do you want to be when you grow up?" I still don't know in all honesty. I have rough ideas but I don't know if they'll come together. Can I not just be a kid forever?

I found a 30 day video game challenge and, if you know me then you already know, I love a challenge. I'm not going to do this over 30 days because I don't want to be a blog that posts every day, not yet any way. Too much pressure I can't commit to yet. The topic from each day interests me and what I'll do is when I feel like blogging I can work my way through that list. I only came across this list when I discovered Jessica's (The Pyreflies) blog and it looks fun so without further ado, here are my firsts in the world of gaming.
Wow, this is a tricky one because I've been playing video games for years, it's got to be close to 15 years. I have a few memories that I deem as my earliest when it comes to gaming so it's fair to say any of these could be my first. To be honest, I'm on a retro game reminiscence and I just can't stop.

Last year I tried to do a "100 films in a year" challenge thing which was going splendidly, the only thing I didn't like about it was that I started mid-year. So I'm scraping the challenge in a way and now I'm just recording what I watch and I don't even know what for anymore.

I didn't want to dedicate this blog to The Sims as I already have a simblr over on wordpress - although that is used more for documentary purposes - but since my most popular post on this is about The Sims, well, yeah. You're going to have to deal with it.
So, I'm an avid Sims player and have been since Sims 1 because I just liked the power over these virtual people and then they could age in Sims 2 and well here I am. Addicted to legacys and challenges and even making my own which is why I am writing this today.
